Life’s a trip, isn’t it?
Our soul incarnates, experiencing a birth in the flesh – a little baby, untarnished from the ways of the world. Raw, naked, vulnerable. So sweet, not needing anything but the bare minimum.
For we brought nothing into the world,
and we cannot take anything out of the world. ~ 1 Timothy 6:7
Then like a tree’s rings compiling year after year, our growing flesh and bones also compile, year after year, adding layers of ego, conditioned beliefs, masking our true nature, blanketing our light. We become tainted by the ways of the world and conform to societal expectations. Self-imposed prisoners and slaves to the machine.
We learn that success is defined by our job titles, our sparkling reputation, and the amount of weeds in our lawn, motivating us in a direction away from the path of our souls, away from God.
For the love of money is the root of all evils;
it is through this craving that some have wandered away
from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs. ~ 1 Timothy 6:10
Then at some point in our paths, something comes along to awaken our dormant soul – a Light brighter than we’d ever seen, a taste sweeter than we’d ever tasted. And we can’t seem to un-feel what we’ve felt, unsee what we’ve seen, un-know what we’ve come to know. Nothing else can satiate our souls and fulfill us like that Light. We begin to Remember.
Taste and see the goodness… ~ Psalm 34:8
Our soul is magnetized like a moth to a flame, initially unaware that this flame igniting our souls will also burn our ego to ashes as we pursue it, purifying us exactly as designed.
We start seeing more clearly and become aware of the heavy armor we’ve accumulated throughout our lives, dampening the Light, leading us down the path of false light — of darkness. We realize that in order to fully taste the sweet cravings of our soul, we first must face our fear of the dark shadows that are starving our soul, and allow the layers of our ego to burn away.
…If any man would come after me,
let him deny himself and take up his cross daily
and follow me… – Luke 9:23
We begin carrying our cross, crucifying our ego, and stripping away the armor, layer after layer, revealing a level of humility and vulnerability deeper than we’ve ever exposed before. A return to innocence.
Raw, naked, pure. Death, and born again.
And again, and again, and again…

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory are Yours, now and forever
Amen.
